Along the river

The River Road follows one continuous route south. Each distance group turns at its posted marker and returns along the same trail. Jones Point, Dyke Marsh, Fort Hunt, and Mount Vernon provide shared orientation points along the way.

FINAL TURNAROUND MARKERS, WATER POINTS, AND REGROUP LOCATIONS ARE CONFIRMED AFTER ROUTE VALIDATION. UNTIL SUPPORT IS LISTED FOR A DATE, TREAT THE ROUTE AS SELF-SUPPORTED.

Pace / no-drop guidance

Choose the distance you can complete comfortably and arrive prepared to carry what you need. We leave together, organize by distance and conversational pace, and account for every runner at the finish.

No-drop applies within each organized distance group — it does not guarantee a dedicated pacer, medical support, or supervision at every pace. Stay with your group, keep the posted turnaround, and tell the group lead before changing distance or leaving the route. See the Code of Conduct.

The Mount Vernon Trail stays open to the public. Keep right, pass with care, and make room for runners, walkers, and cyclists moving in both directions.
